For students, employees and alumni since 1971
The department of wood and metal (Afdeling for træ og metal, ATM), is a volunteer-driven collaborative workshop for students, employees and alumni from the Technical University of Denmark. We offer well-stocked facilities for both metal- and woodworking, located in the basement of S-huset near the ceramics and foto clubs.
Membership is 150 kr per semester for students, 300 kr for non-students.
As a member of the club, you can work on almost anything for personal use. A detailed list of limitations can be found on our wiki, but in broad strokes our facilities are not to be used for commercial use, creating weapons and due to our location in a basement we do not allow general use of toxic compounds like epoxy and stainless steel.
We have an active facebook group where you can show off your latest project and get help with the machines. Don’t hesitate to ask for help, or ask what people are doing.
We also have a detailed wiki with a page for every tool available in the club, rules and good things to know in ATM.
The workshop is volunteer driven. When you join, you’re part of shaping the club. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the board if you have a good idea to contribute to the club.
ATM is located at S-huset, DTU, Anker Engelundsvej 101E, 2800 Lyngby.
In the corridor next to PFs “kælderbaren”, which can be located in the basement under S-huset by going down the circular starecase, ATM is located at the far end.
You can access the club 24/7 using an access card which will be activated after you have joined the club.
